Hubpages and Squidoo are two extremely easy to use services that allow you to create your own webpage. The great thing about each is that they have some really cool add-ons. You do not have to know anything about building a webpage because they do all the work for you. You merely put the content in and decide the add-ons you want to use.
There are some fundamental differences between them. On Squidoo, you can use Adsense but you do not get the per click amount if someone clicks on an ad. The people at Squidoo put all of the earnings of all their lenses together and then dole out the earnings to their members according to their page rank. Hubpages allows you to place your own Adsense account number on your hubpage and you get whatever you would normally get when someone clicks on an ad. I give Hubpages the nod on this one and I have made more money from Hubpages when it comes to Adsense.
Squidoo pays out earnings to their members every month. If you rank in the top 2000, you will likely get over $10. You get your ranking from number of visits, how many times you edit or add to your lens, comments or ratings left, etc. If you are from around 2000 to 10,000, you will likely get $1 or more and from 10,000 to around 60,000 will get you around 10 cents. Hubpages does not have a set up like this, so the nod on this one goes to Squidoo. I have 40 lenses. Only 3 of them rank in the top 10,000 so I do get some revenue but not much.
Both Hubpages and Squidoo also allow you to place Amazon links and a few others like Ebay, Cafepress, etc. I have made more money from these affiliate links than on Adsense clicks or Squidoo earnings. It is important to give people quality content that these affiliate links will seamlessly align with. For instance, you might want to give people information about a great singer and then place some affiliate links under the content. Many people will click through and buy something thus earning you a commission. There is an art to this and I will post an article about how to do it later. You need to bookmark this blog or receive RSS feeds so you do not miss it. I consider this a tie.
Squidoo also gets points for having so many more cool add-ons than Hubpages which makes the webpage look as cool as you want to. I keep detailed page visit stats and have seen Squidoo just barely edge out Hubpages for free traffic. It is really important to understand that both of these services do a great job of SEO but you need to make sure your title and first line has your most important keyword phrase.
