According to my research, life span of a deep freezer is about eight years. So, counting it with the running cost per year, the cost of maintaining and owning this appliance rises to 0 a year or per month. This means to get you got to have that much money for running the product in your house. But for you, the money might not matter a big deal to you. Some people ask me, do I really need a deep freezer?
So lets see, you can use and store about 12 meals of the home grown vegetables per month in the deep freezer. The farmer’s market sells meals worth of the vegetables at a dollar, then this along pays for deep freezer but for that, I need to store several months’ worth of the tomatoes for the growing season.
I discussed the concept with my wife and it is really great because you end up saving a lot of money. You can visit any sale in your neighborhood, get the food and then store it in the deep freezer; you can use it for several meals and still keep the items fresh. It is really hard to quantify this with savings till we utilize it.
Mostly, I buy loads of vegetables along with my wife as because it saves me a lot of trips to the market. You will agree with me a big bag of frozen broccoli is much cheaper per ounce as compared to the smaller bag and if you have a deep freezer, you would save a lot of money by getting the big bag.
However, I won’t recommend getting a deep freezer if you don’t cook a lot of food at home. In that case, this home appliance would be costly for you. I got the deep freezer now when I needed it the most but a few years ago, I wouldn’t have got it simply because I mostly ate outside. You need to check the costs for yourself before you go ahead and buy any such appliances as they cost a lot of money.
